Super Penguin

Before my daughter Laila and her family arrived for a visit, she asked if I could make a softie based on her six year old son's drawings. Little Luc has also dictated four stories involving the escapades of Super Penguin.

Here he is.

I based his body on Wendi's Itty Bitty Pocket Pirate from her free patterns found on Shiny Happy World.

I did have a smile on his face to begin with, just like the drawing, but he looked more like a little boy than a penguin so I gave him a beak. I also stuffed him more than the original pattern called for.

Luc drew step by step instructions on how I was to go about re-creating Super Penguin. (his backward #2 looks more like a sideways #5)

Please excuse the blurry photo. I had Luc come into the kitchen, close his eyes and hold out his hand.

Super Penguin was hiding on the table under the bag of parsley so he couldn't see it. Luc appears to like his creation.

Just like with Patric and his llama, I had Luc choose all the fabrics.

Just a 'thank you hug.'

The original drawing and the real thing - with the two colour 'S'.

And here they are watching a movie on mom's tablet.

Totally engrossed.

Here ends another saga of Super Penguin. I hope he has lots of adventures in British Columbia.

I'm linking up with The Needle and Thread Network and also with Kokaquilts and the post Sew, Stitch, Snap and Share.

Completed

I have finished a couple of things lately.

Little llama got finished with his blanket.

Patric with a little llama love. He's wearing an apron because he painted a bird house.

Blue, his favourite colour.

Then he got into beading.

This shoulder cowl is done too. I started it quite a while ago (last December) and it was meant for my daughter, Laila. Since she was here visiting, I figured that I may as well complete it once and for all so she could take it home with her. She has a home office in her basement and so I wanted to make something to keep her warm while she's on the computer.

I have started some knitting but can't show it since it's a gift. You see, there are two more babies due later this year. At least baby things don't take that long to do. Busy times ahead...

Just a little llama

Time flies.
The end of June and the beginning of July saw family time in total here. Everyone was here in one place and we got a family photo done - with new babies too. If I get the OK and if someone can send me a copy of the photo, I'll post it.

My eldest daughter and her family live in the interior of British Columbia and if you're a Canadian, you know that there are wildfires raging. People have evacuated to safer locations. My son-in-law went back home early to look after the pigs, chickens and garden while my two grandsons and my daughter stayed a bit longer. They are still here because the area where they live is still not all that safe even though there are some places that are being allowed back - slowly. All is well and we are keeping busy.

Jennifer Jangles is having a sew along with her Little Llama Softie pattern and I thought it would be a nice project to do with my four year old grandson, Patric.

All the fabrics were chosen by Patric. Obviously, he likes blue.

Here's Patric with the Spiderman puzzle he put together.

I'm going to post this to The Needle and Thread Network. Why don't you stop by for some inspiration?
